MUBA in Basel

Tomorrow we wd be going to MUBA(http://www.muba.ch/) in Basel. Its being held at Basel messeplatz from 2nd till 11 th March. The chief guest country this time being Mexico :-).
Founded during WWI, the Muba is the largest public trade fair in Switzerland. Formerly called the "Schweizer Leistungsschau (Swiss Performance Exhibition), this major spring event features numerous individual exhibitions of national consumer goods including home furnishings, health and sports products. Around 1,100 exhibitors present their wares to the public. Had been to it last year also with Vivek's friend Sumit who was on a visit here from USA.
This reminded me of our very own Trade Fair in Delhi, India. I remember since we were in Class 8 we were taken every year for class picnic to trade fair. The best part used to be that we were forbidden to go to Appu Ghar(the most famous and i guess the oldest amusement park of Delhi) and were told to stay only in Trade Fair area, but me n my friends all notorious used to always manage to have some rides in Appu ghar, so u can imagine a bunch of us in our school uniforms sitting on My Fair Lady with our ties flying. Hmm lovely old memories. Then when i entered college my hostel was 5 minutes walk from Pragati Maidan( the venue fr Trade Fair), so again we enjoyed going there and seeing products from different part n esp enjoying the cuisine from different parts of India.
A very sour experience i had once which i cd never forget there was when i hd gone for the very first time to trade fair in class 8 i went to a stall of a german company who had machines related to milk processing, i was looking at them n there came a big huge german n said in english, hey girl, theres no point of you looking at these machines you are anyways going to grow up and just do cooking n look after ur family (well i don't deny that thats not what i am doing today). I being very young found him so very rude and cd never forget him. Wish he could see all the Indian girls today who have grown up and are a big success professionally.
On that note wishing you all a very happy Weekend!
