Back from Canada

Hi, I am back from the lovely land of maples. we had a wonderful and fascinating holiday and visited

Toronto

Niagara falls

Montreal

Quebec city

What struck me most as different was the vastness of it all... the roads were vast, u cd see far away into wide horizons, the cars were bigger, the buildings too and defintely the traffic as well...As we were in the region of great lakes we saw many lakes which were also defnitely far bigger than any of those in europe..

What i loved was the trucks, they seemed so shiny and beautiful! very different from those in india n Europe, also the varied types of muffins and bagels that one cd buy...some part of quebec province does look like europe,the old montreal and the city centre of quebec resemble europe a lot..

another thing that strikes you is the cosmopolitan nature of canada u see all races of people there ..the people are very friendly there..infact at the airport we found the most friendliest people, all the officers on duty there were so friendly that u felt comfortable instantly..

another thing to be pointed out was the indianness, there are so many indians living there that in every city u have an indian street and loads of indian stores with many temples and gurudwaras, in fact people do get married also in the indian way there in temples and gurudwaras, for us it was the time to relish amazing indian street stuff like chaat and golgappas which i miss immensely in Europe..

Also again it was time to meet old friends ..one of my very good school friend Vinay who had recently got married lives currently in toronto..i had met him last in india before my own wedding so it was good fun spending 3 days with him n ronika in toronto, They showed us round and took us to places which we as tourists cdnt have discovered on our own...and since he and his wife is also from the same school we discussed abt our old friedns and the teachers an all..i was feeling so lucky to have friends all over the world who are so warm :-) ..

Also it was family meeting time for us..Viveks matrenal aunt and 2 cousins live in Montreal so we spent aroudn a week with them..it was so much fun to enjoy the warm hospitality of the family, esp from the provine we come from in India a lot of stress is laid on food, so we were fed a lot with yummy punjabi food :-)..it was kind of relaxing to spend tiem with family and in fact i didnt even feel that i had not spent much time with them before..

so i guess this has been a loooong post, hope u guys will get time to read it and have a look at the snaps during the weekend, hv a great weekend.
